Sterilization Process
Loading Shredding Heating / Sterilization Cooling and Filtering Discharging+
When the cycle begins, the top lid opens, and the automatic elevator empties the waste from the discharge chamber into the device. Once the top lid closes, the shredding process starts.
Shredders controlled by the PLC change their rotation direction thanks to the “anti-blockage” feature, which prevents the blades from jamming.
Our specially designed shredders are capable of shredding stainless steel tools used in surgery and hard ceramic materials.
The mixer located in the upper chamber continuously feeds the shredder.
The temperature in the device is achieved by supplying steam until a uniform temperature of 134°C (274°F) is reached in the upper and lower chambers. Sterilization is completed by maintaining the temperature between 134°C and 138°C with equivalent pressure for 10 minutes.
The processes performed ensure an 8Log10 reduction in the pathogenic contamination level of medical waste.
During the cooling phase, excess steam in the chamber is expelled from the device, and the temperature of the sterilized waste is reduced by injecting cold air into the chamber. Sterilized and condensed water, which can be discharged into the sewage system, is filtered using pressure and vacuum.
When the discharge lid is opened, a container is placed beneath the chamber. The lid facilitates the release of the sterilized material. As the container is removed, the bottom lid closes, and the sterilizer automatically starts the next cycle.
